Victorian yellow gold Essex crystal stick pin. Essex crystal, also known as reverse crystal intaglio, were popularized in the Victorian era into the Edwardian era. The reverse intaglio were originally made from rock crystal cabochon that had been carved on the flat back side, where an image is carved in reverse and hand painted. In this case, a remarkable image of horse has been meticulously painted and backed in mother of pearl to enhance the three dimensional effect. Crafted in 14K yellow gold, the lovely stick pin measures approximately 3 inches long while the crystal itself measures approximately 0.75 inches wide.
