Sapphire
Dating back to biblical times, gems have long been believed to bestow the wearer with gifts such as luck, strength, and abundance. And sapphire's supposed ability to promote harmonious unions made it a favorite among royals throughout most of human history.
Though birthstones, as we know them, were not standardized until the Edwardian Era by the National Association of Jewelers, the practice is said to date back thousands of years and September babies have always been lucky to have sapphires as their stone.
Sapphires are most recognized for their brilliant blue color, they come in a rainbow of hues, and are second to diamonds in terms of their hardiness.
