Love works in mysterious ways, and for Ryan and Nicole, it all began with a series of near-misses on dating apps. Little did they know that their paths were destined to cross, thanks to the help of mutual friends. And now, they are officially engaged, with a breathtaking diamond ring to seal their love story.
“We had always seen each other on the dating apps but never could quite connect,” Nicole shares. Taking initiative, she reached out to mutual friends to learn more about Ryan, which led to their first date. “Walking into the first date, I whispered to him, ‘I’m really nervous…,’ which allowed Ryan to relax and be himself.”
While the first date wasn’t perfect, it was enough for Ryan to ask her out again. “The second date was the clincher… he texted his best friend saying, ‘Oh crap! I think I’m interested!’” From there, they spent the next year traveling, meeting family, and enjoying life together, all while deepening their connection through their faith. “We know God brought us together and are so grateful for His generosity toward us.”
As summer was winding down and Nicole’s break from teaching was coming to an end, Ryan invited her on a picnic. Little did she know, this outing was about to become life-changing. After a card game and stroll, they came across a blanket filled with pictures of their memories together. “Ryan got down on one knee, expressed his love for me, and asked me to marry him. I, of course, said YES!!” she recalls. Hiding in the bushes, Ryan’s friend captured every moment with photos.
Nicole had always been a fan of Walton’s Jewelry. “I am a fan of vintage pieces, so I knew I wanted an engagement ring that was one of a kind.” She had even commented on a Walton’s Instagram post saying, “Holy smokes. The one on the left is my dreammmm,” referring to the exact ring Ryan ended up choosing.
Ryan worked behind the scenes to make her dream come true. “He found my Instagram comment, and his sleuthing skills became the star,” Nicole shared. While on a road trip with a friend, Ryan contacted Walton’s to secure the ring. When Nicole saw the ring had sold on the website, she knew it had been purchased, thinking, “It was then and there I knew the ring of my dreams had been bought!”
