Care & Warranty

As the proud owner of a gorgeous piece of jewelry, it is essential to understand the best methods for maintaining its beauty for generations to come.

With over half a century of expertise in fine jewelry craftsmanship and care, we recognize the unique nature of each piece. With every purchase, our team of experts will assist you in selecting the optimal care regimen for your individual piece of jewelry.

Below are some helpful tips to ensure your jewelry stays in the best possible condition for another lifetime of wear.

Jewelry Care

Taking proper care of your heirloom jewelry ensures it retains its beauty for generations to come. While we appreciate other cleaning methods you may find online, we always recommend a gentle approach for your precious pieces.

For hard gemstones such as diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and garnets, a mixture of warm water and mild dish soap is ideal. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub away any dirt or debris. However, when it comes to more delicate gems like pearls, opals, moonstones, turquoise, and some emeralds, it's best to avoid submerging them in water. Instead, use a soft dry cloth to carefully buff away any dirt.

When engaging in activities involving harsh chemicals or household cleaners, it's essential to remove all jewelry and store it in a safe place to prevent damage. We advise against wearing new and antique jewelry during strenuous activities or workouts (antique pieces were crafted during a time when women had different lifestyles and may not withstand vigorous use).

While our antique jewelry is sold in as-is condition, each piece undergoes thorough inspection before it reaches our showcases, and we provide notes on its condition. Special care is needed for particularly old pieces, such as those from the Georgian and Victorian eras. Remember to remove your antique rings before washing your hands to preserve its integrity.

We understand the significance of these rare antique pieces and treat them with the utmost care and respect. Like most precious, delicate objects, they deserve special attention to ensure they endure as cherished heirlooms for years to come.

Helpful Tips
Cleaning Your Ring at Home

Diamonds and most colored gemstones can be cleaned using warm water and mild soap. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to lightly scrub away any built-up residue.

• Be sure to rinse your jewelry in a bowl of clean water to remove cleaning solutions, since you risk losing stones or whole pieces of jewelry down the sink!

• Soft gemstones, like pearls and opals, can easily scratch. A soft, link free cloth is best to use in place of soaps and brushes.

• When you're not wearing your jewelry, store it in a clean, dry, room temperature place. Avoid tossing it in a drawer where the gems could be scratched or damaged.

• Have your jewelry professionally cleaned and checked as often as you'd like, but we recommend every 6 months.

Where not to wear your jewelry

To the Gym

Platinum and gold, while durable, are malleable metals and can bend or break when subjected to heavy lifting or manual tasks. Even diamonds, though hard, can chip under pressure. It's best to remove your jewelry before engaging in any strenuous physical activities, not just at the gym.

In the Shower

Soaps and cleaners can accumulate under gemstones, causing them to appear cloudy over time. Avoid wearing your jewelry in environments where they may come into contact with chemicals, such as in the shower or when swimming or pools or spas.

While Sleeping

Prongs can catch on sheets or bedding, leading to bending of the metal of even loss of stones. To prevent damage, remove your jewelry before bedtime and store them safely on your vanity or nightstand.
