A Romantic Weekend in Franklin, Tennessee: Where to Shop, Dine, & Stay in This Historic Gem

A Romantic Weekend in Franklin, Tennessee: Where to Shop, Dine, & Stay in This Historic Gem - Walton's Jewelry

Just a stone's throw from the energy of Nashville lies Franklin, Tennessee—a town that feels like it was plucked from the pages of a Southern novel and tailored for modern romantics. With its brick-paved sidewalks, historic architecture, and upscale hospitality, Franklin is an idyllic destination for couples seeking a romantic yet relaxed weekend getaway. Think porch swings and bourbon tastings, boutique finds and slow mornings all set against a backdrop of rolling Tennessee hills.

We may be a little biased, but we think our hometown of Franklin, Tennessee, is one of the prettiest places to spend a weekend, especially if you love a good antique treasure hunt, a slow morning with a great cup of coffee, or a dinner that feels like a celebration. Our showroom has called Main Street home for nearly half a century, and we’ve watched this community grow into a destination that blends old-soul character with modern Southern style. If you’re planning a visit to Walton’s, here are a few of our favorite ways to spend time in and around town.

Walton's Jewelry // 410 Main Street, Franklin, TN

Where to Shop on Main Street: Curated Finds with a Story

Historic Downtown Franklin is where you'll find us—right across from The Franklin Theatre on Main. A legacy in Franklin since 1974, our family-owned showroom specializes in antique and estate jewelry from the Victorian era, Art Deco period, and beyond. If you’re shopping for an engagement ring, anniversary gift, or just something special, we’d love to help you find the perfect piece!

Before or after your visit to Walton’s, take a stroll down Main Street. It’s lined with boutiques, coffee shops, bookstores, and cafes, all set against a backdrop of 19th-century architecture and shady trees.

White's Mercantile

A few blocks away, White's Mercantile offers a curated general store experience dreamed up by singer-songwriter Holly Williams. Expect a modern-day apothecary filled with artisanal goods, stylish housewares, and upscale Southern essentials. It's the kind of place where you come in for a candle and leave with a cashmere throw and small-batch bourbon.

The Registry

Don't miss The Registry, a refined home and gift boutique with an eye for the elegant and timeless. Whether you’re selecting a crystal decanter or monogrammed linens, the pieces here feel like they were handpicked for your home and are sure to delight. And if you’re a book lover, don’t miss Landmark Booksellers, the perfect spot for a quiet moment. Housed in a historic building and packed with rare finds and great literature, it’s the kind of bookstore that feels like a well-kept secret.

Where to Eat (and Sip)

Franklin’s food scene offers something for every mood, whether you’re in search of a quick bite or planning a celebratory dinner.

Triple Crown Bakery

For a sweet start to the day, we always recommend Triple Crown Bakery. Tucked inside a little garden cottage just off Main Street, it’s one of the most delightful places for coffee and pastries (and the chocolate croissant is reason enough to visit). In the evening, if you’re looking for a cozy place to unwind with a great drink, head to Stable Reserve. Housed in a beautifully restored 1900s horse stable, it’s a bourbon lounge and cocktail bar offering carefully curated spirits, private tastings, and a refined, rustic atmosphere perfect for a nightcap or leisurely conversation. And if you’re craving something more substantial, Cork & Cow is just around the corner from our shop and perfect for a date night. Between the flickering candlelight, velvet booths, and exceptional wine list, it’s a place you’ll want to linger.

Stay a While: Southern Comfort with Soul

If you’re coming from out of town, we always encourage making a weekend of it.

The Harpeth Hotel

For a truly restful retreat, Southall Farm & Inn is just a short drive away but feels worlds apart. Set on 325 acres of Tennessee farmland, it offers spa treatments, peaceful views, and on-site dining sourced from its own grounds. It’s a place to breathe deep and slow down. If you’d rather stay in the heart of downtown, The Harpeth Hotel offers refined comfort just steps from Main Street. With its inviting interiors and walkable location, it’s a lovely home base for exploring Franklin at your own pace.
